BURLINGTON, Ia. – The Quincy Doggy Paddlers opened its inaugural Prospect League season on Tuesday night but came up short in 12–5 loss to the Burlington Bees at Community Field.
Quincy struck early with two runs in the second inning and another in the third, grabbing a 3–1 lead. However, the Bees responded, erupting for eight runs over the third, fourth, and fifth innings to take control of the game.
Offensively, the Doggy Paddlers were led by General Schofield, who went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI. Jimmy Koza, Krew Bond, Matthew Thompson, and Jake Merda each drove in a run for the Paddlers, who tallied eight hits and drew nine walks.
Quincy will look to notch their first win tomorrow night in the home opener at 6:30 p.m. against the defending Prospect League Champions, the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp
